THE STORY
Julie and Patrick’s black-tie wedding at Dock 5 in Washington, DC reimagined the traditional ballroom celebration into something daring, soulful, and unforgettable. Their vision—a 1970s Palm Springs cocktail lounge meets sultry speakeasy—set the stage for a night full of personality, style, and nonstop dancing. Guests sipped retro inspired cocktails on velvet sofas, disco balls cast dappled light across the dance floor, and every design detail balanced refinement with just the right amount of edge.
Three bold design choices defined the celebration: unconventional palettes with groovy pops of color layered against warm woods and saturated velvets; textural floral installations studded with disco balls, creating glittering movement overhead; and bold, retro-inspired typography that carried personality and clarity throughout the paper goods. The result was a wedding that felt immersive, creative, and completely true to the couple’s modern, art-driven style.
IN THEIR WORDS
